About Jason Smalley

Jason’s interest in gardens and landscapes was cultivated during his childhood, where he spent countless hours in his parents’ expansive gardens near Perth, Ontario. This early appreciation for nature led him to pursue an education in horticulture, which laid the foundation for his career in landscape design.

Following his studies, Jason shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching landscape design at Algonquin College in Ottawa. With over twelve years of experience working for landscape contractors in the Ottawa area, he established JSLD in 2011 as a freelance designer.

When he’s not busy transforming landscapes, Jason enjoys traveling with his family, nurturing his own garden, and exploring the outdoors through hiking and cycling.
